Benguet is situated in the mountainous part of the Philippines, where there are lots of stunning mountains that every mountaineer dreams of climbing. Mt. Yangbew and Mt. Kalugong, on the other hand, are located in La Trinidad, Benguet; Mt. Ulap in Itogon, Benguet; Mt. Tenglawan and Mt. Kabunian in Bakun, Benguet; and many more. These are just some of the mountains that every mountaineer's dream of climbing. These mountains offer breathtaking, panoramic, and instagrammable views.
Back in August of 2018, we tried to conquer Mt. Yangbew and Mt. Kalugong with my mates from Cebu City. However, we weren't very lucky since the place was covered by a very thick fog, and the same scenario was at Mt. Kalungong. Nonetheless, we still had so much fun and enjoyed our little unlucky adventure at that time.
Since the day that we went to Mt. Yangbew, I've been planning to have a revenge climb so that I can really see how beautiful the peak is. The revenge claim was pushed through just recently, and this time I went to Yangbew with my colleagues from SynerG, Austin, and Ira. Right after our graveyard shift, we headed directly to the place and were so grateful to our mates for going there too, para naman may mga kasama ako and everything is all so worth it.
During the summer season, the grasses there are so fragile, so smoking is strictly prohibited. Also, using burners during camping is highly discouraged. As a matter of fact, there was a recent wildfire in Mt. Kalugong and in Mt. Yangbew. In the picture below, it will show you how big the damages are, sayang nga yung mga pine trees na nasusunog kasi di na yun mabubuhay pa ulit, same lang din sa pagka matay ng feelings niya para sa'yo, never ng mabubuhay pa, Hayst!.
Anyways, the disadvantage during the hike, especially if you are going to take it on an afternoon or a rainy season, is that it might have zero visibility due to thick fogs. This actually happened to us during our first hike.
As soon as we arrived at the peak, we just ate our lunch, wander around and have a good time in horseback riding. You might not consider going there during the weekend for there would be heaps of hikers. In fact, there were more or less 50 heads the time we went there which was Sunday.
You'll gonna enjoy two peaks in less than a day adventure in La Trinidad, from Mt. Yangbew you can traverse to Mt. Kalugong. It is located on the lower part and just meters away from Mt. Yangbew. A short hike from Mt. Yangbew to Kalugong can be done without taking a ride. You'll also gonna enjoy the instagrammable photos/view along the trail going there.
We truly enjoyed our adventure there and I'm so glad kasi finally naka revenge climb na ako to Mt. Yangbew.

How to get there?
From Baguio City, take a jeepney to La Trinidad and exit at Km4. Then walk a short distance to the PUV terminal for Tawang and inform the driver that your destination is Mt. Yangbew. You can also see the itinerary I created down below. Is there a guide and entrance fee?
Yes, there is an entrance fee of 30.00, but there will be no guide. As per Austin, a guide was a must before, but it's different now. Let your worries go away because the trail is very easy, hindi'ng hindi kayo mawawala katulad ng pagka wala nya.The Peak
The peak is so wide and so stunning, from there, you will gonna enjoy the panoramic view of La Trinidad and other nearby towns. It is really a good place to camp because of its quiet and mesmerizing place. You can also enjoy horseback riding at the peak for only Php 300.00 for 1 hour and Php150.00 for 30 mins.During the summer season, the grasses there are so fragile, so smoking is strictly prohibited. Just a sneak peek
At Mt. Kalugong, you will be amazed by the panoramic view of the La Trinidad Benguet and of the different rock formations at the peak of it. One important thing that you seriously bare in mind when venturing the place is that there is no room for error. You really have to be more cautious in every step you'll take. To know more about Mt.
