This year 2020 is not as friendly as the past few years. Look, we're still in the first quarter of the year, but we're dealing with a lot of issues (COVID-19, political issues, etc.). We are all indeed in need of help, but how about those kids in the remote areas whose parents have no work, no income, and have no assurance that they will receive assistance from the local government? Who will help them?
OPLAN BALIK ARAL is our initiative to help the kids in some of the remote areas in Cebu in the upcoming opening of the school year 2020–2021. Surely, food and school supplies will be the next problems that they will face. So, as early as now, we will at least prepare for this situation.
Although this year 2020 begins with many catastrophic events, may we have the full courage to stand again, and let us finish this year strong! as strong as the Filipino spirit of Bayanihan. This might be a call for us to be united in helping one another.
OBJECTIVES:
- To help the less fortunate pupils in following schools by providing them the basic school supplies: Cansalonoy Elementary School in Cansalonoy, Ronda Cebu, Bayong Elementary School in Bayong, Balamban, Cebu, Guinabinhan Primary School in Balamban, Cebu and Sta. Rosa Integrated School in Sta. Rosa, Danao City.
- To educate the kids about the importance of cleanliness (proper hand washing and toothbrushing with the help of our health expert volunteers).
- To relieve the parents' burden of purchasing school supplies and to pique the students' interest in the upcoming start of the class.
EVENT OVERVIEW:
1. Formal opening of classes of School Year 2020 - 2021 will be on August 24, 2020.
2. Events that require mass gathering are temporarily cancelled (e.g. Palarong Pambansa, Festival of Talents, job fairs, Brigada Eskwela etc.). This also includes outreach program.
We, Laag Bisaya, organizer of such program decided to set the time frame as "indefinite" until further notice.

In June this year, Laag Bisaya will be hosting an outreach program that will take place in different parts of Cebu province (remote areas). This event aims to give the kids their basic needs in school and to at least lighten the load of the parents. We plan to raise enough funds to feed and give school supplies to about 700 children (Kindergarten to Grade 6 pupils) as well as to give them excitement for this back-to-school season.
Laag Bisaya is once again knocking on your kind hearts in this season. We understand the sacrifice we all made due to what has struck in our society today. Nations are suffering from this pandemic that has spread like fire. But once this is over, we, from Laag Bisaya, would like to extend our arms to those in need especially children who we believe to be most affected of the crisis that we are facing today. And this will happen through your help. We had 2 successful outreach programs in the past with the help of individuals from different walks of life and organizations companies such as National Bookstore and Nature Spring. The first outreach program we had was held at Gilutongan Integrated School, Gilutongan Island back on December 2018 and the second was held at Mulao Elementary School, Brgy Mulao Compostela Cebu back on June.
We are writing this letter in the hope that you will extend your kind support to our program. With enough resources, we could serve the following schools: Cansalonoy Elementary School in Cansalonoy, Ronda, Cebu; Bayong Elementary School in Bayong, Balamban, Cebu; Guinabinhan Primary School in Balamban, Cebu; and Sta. Rosa Integrated School in Sta. Rosa, Danao City.
