About Laag Bisaya

Laag Bisaya was founded by Phil back in March of 2017. It became an official group back in September 2017. Laag Bisaya is a non-profit organization. We are a group of individuals who love to explore, especially the mountains. Before, Phil was the only one who managed Laag Bisaya during his leisure time and just for fun. To make the story short, they are a group that usually organizes outdoor events such as camping, hiking, and outreach programs. During their event, they made sure that every attendee was perfectly safe. They also made sure that every attendee was perfectly fit for such an event. Laag Bisaya requires every participant to sign their waiver for every event they attend.

Why Laag Bisaya?

The word "LAAG BISAYA" is a Cebuano language. The word "LAAG" means "to wander around in different places," and the word "BISAYA" is a person living in the Visayas region of the Philippines. Phil chooses the term "LAAG BISAYA", because we are "Bisaya" who love to wander around in different places, in vernacular, "Bisayang Laagan".

Why wandering only in the Visayas?

As of the meantime, they can only afford traveling around the Visayas. Hopefully, the team can travel outside the Visayas region and hopefully not just Philippines but around the globe.

Our mission for this year 2018

The team agreed to have an outreach program by the end of this year. As of now, we haven't decided the exact community yet but we are targeting those less fortunate kids in the mountainous places in Cebu. As of now, we are doing our best to get the funds that we will be needing to support the said activity. In every event we've hosted, we sell t-shirts and the 20% of the cost of the t-shirt will be deposited to the fundraising account.

Our mission for this year 2019

Laag Bisaya aims to help the people and the environment or to educate people about the importance of taking care of our mother nature, the importance of following the Leave No Trace policy. As we all know, nowadays, global warming is (lalong lumalala) due to our carelessness. Aside from that, Laag Bisaya, aims to help the less fortunate children in different places or in the mountainous areas of Visayas by doing an outreach program.

We collect our funds for the outreach program by organizing outdoor events and in that event we sell customized t-shirts. There are no fees or any form of payments collected during such events except only for the event t-shirt. The very first outreach program we hosted was last December 2018 held at Gilutongan Elementary School, Gilutungan Island. This year, we will be hosting another outreach activity which will be held at Mulao Elementary School, Compostela Cebu. We are again planning to raise funds for the activity to help children with their basic needs in school.

We are hoping that the events and activities that we will do in the future will be as successful as the previous ones with the help of the members of this team and with the support of other people.

Our mission for this year 2020

The same with last year's mission, Laag Bisaya aims to help the people and the environment or to educate people about the importance of taking care of our mother nature, the importance of following the Leave No Trace policy.

We are also looking forward to having an outreach program this year to help the less fortunate kids in different remote areas in the province of Cebu. We understand the current crisis that we are facing today, most nations are suffering due to this CORONA pandemic. Surely, in the upcoming opening of the school year 2020 - 2021, foods and school materials will be the next problem that we will be facing. At least we are prepared for this wave before it will hit to most of us.

This year's program is called, OPLAN BALIK ARAL.

OPLAN BALIK ARAL is our initiation to help the less fortunate kids in some of the remote areas in Cebu province in the upcoming opening of the school year 2020 - 2021.
