Antig Tingko Alcoy : Island Hopping

This story is just a continuation about our Laag in Dalaguete Beach Park. Supposedly, we will go to Mountain Coal resort after Dalaguete Beach park, however, for some reason the lady's changed their mind, well lady's always changed their mind. Lol. So instead of Coal Mountain resort, we went to Antig Tingko Beach in Alcoy.

Antig Tingko Beach is a popular getaway located in Daan Lungsod, Alcoy in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is the most common and popular beach in Alcoy. Alcoy is located in the southern part of Cebu next to the Municipality of Dalaguete. It is 90 kilometers away from Cebu City. You can reach Alcoy via Ceries bus or Sunrays. In our trip, we traverse from Dalaguete Beach Park to Alcoy via tricycle for 30 php per head.

Tingko is great for families or team outing  because of its wide and sandy beach and shallow waters that offer relaxing environment and fun activities to do.

The white sand Beach

There are several things that are FREE in this beach…

Sand, sun, sea water, and entrance but not anymore... They will collect, I think 10-25 php per guest, its that much though maybe this is just for the maintenance of the beach.

Tingko beach is indeed a public beach. But if you want to stay a little longer in Alcoy to spend more time enjoying the place, you can avail any of the beach houses, huts or any facilities available with reasonable and affordable rates. You can also set up your own tent in Tingko but they will be asking for a charge, if I'm not mistaken its 100-200 per tent.

Tingko Beach is situated on a small but deep lagoon just across a coral island, they call it as Mabad-on Reef and it will disappear during high tide. This is also one of the snorkeling area where beautiful corals and fishes can be found.

The beach has an extensive stretch of arching shoreline, roughly a mile long of white sand. Just a few meters from the shore is a gradually sloping but shallow sea floor. This is perfect for wading, searching shells, and for snorkeling as well.

The beach is quite over populated during weekends, holidays and specially during summer season with locals, visitors and some foreign guests. So, it is highly suggested to come not during those seasons. However, if you love the crowd, then join the party!

Tingko beach accommodations / rooms

Antig Tingko offer rooms for rent for a days or depends on how long you will stay there. The last time we went there with my team from JPmorgan, we stayed there for just a night. We rented one room so that we will have a safe place for our important things and the rest of us are sleeping the tent.

Can you do camping?

Yes, camping is possible on the beach if you want to pitch a tent for fun experience and budget purposes.

Interesting & fun activities

Surely, you can enjoy lots of activities on this beach.
You can bring your own snorkeling gears, beach volleyball, Frisbee, etc.

The place is great for budget and cheap family picnic. You can pack your homemade food and drinks for a day’s party. Bring your spreads, towels, parasol, tent, folding light table, or anything you can easily carry. But take note, management may charge you for theses materials.

Tinko beach is really good for snorkeling so I would really suggest to bring your own snorkeling gears.

Boating and island-hopping could be your another activity of the day. You may hire operators that would bring you (and your group, family, or friends) to their snorkeling area or in Mabad-on reef. Also, if you have under water camera, don't forget to bring it for there are heaps of beautiful things that you want to capture. No worries because there are heaps of boats waiting for customers. They are very friendly and approachable, they also have snorkeling gears for free. We also met Kuya Vidal, the very friendly pump boat operator. We had so much fun in our stay there because of him, we had very long island hopping and snorkeling in many places around Tingko and they also swum for sea urchin as per my colleague's request. Kuya Vidal didn't ask for a payment but we insist to pay him because its not easy to swim in the very deep water just to get few sea urchin. My team find it tasty and they love to eat those but I don't, I just don't. Lol

Finding Tingko Beach Resort

Reaching this popular public beach resort is not a problem. It is as easy as counting 1 2 3--that's because everybody knows where this fantastic beach is. Now, here are my broad and rough way of guiding you to this place...

If you are coming from Cebu City, you have to go to the Cebu South Bus Terminal then take the bus bound for Oslob, then get off at Tingko Beach in Alcoy. You won't miss it since many visitors get off in this area to enjoy the beach. But, if you are worried and in doubt, just let the 'konduktor' know that you have to get off at 'Tingko Beach' in Alcoy.

More beaches in Alcoy, Cebu

Alcoy is in the Southern part of Cebu Province, which is also known for its beautiful and natural beaches. Most of their resorts are not so 'developed' compared to the ones in Mactan Island and other places located near the capital.

Surely, there are no laws that would prevent you from doing something or fun activity as long as you do not disturb others or hurt nature and environment, Yes?

Enjoy your day and let your worries go away even for just a day!
